Food for thought for this week

Wow... 1 week has just passed me by... my last week of hols :'( My last blog was... last Saturday or Sunday. well done dude...

This week has been an emotional ride for me, hell of a roller-coaster feeling. I don't wish to elaborate too much. That's it. Ain't feeling too good bout it though.

Have you been in a dream, a dream where beautiful things happen to you, things that you pretty much never expect e.g someone gave you a million dollars - and everything seems perfect in the dream, too perfect actually. Then, just as you began to feel comfortable in your surreal environment, you wake up... in the real world. Reality sets in. Hard. You wake up with that emptyness in your gut, as if you lost something important. But you haven-cos you never own it in the first place. You know that... you certainly know... but it doesn't stop you from feeling something is kind of missing... your life's incomplete.

Can this stuff happen to us in the real world? You have to reflect and decide for yourself.

Another cell killing thought. How do YOU know THIS IS THE REAL WORLD, and not your dream world? How can you prove it?

Does it sound too 'Matrix'? Hahaha... blame it on the guy who lectured me for Philosophy. Crap... provoking crap though

A sad afternote...

This Sunday morning, 16th April, @ 1oam, Chandru's mum left for the airport. She had to return to Singapore. Right to the minute that she left the house, she cleaned up the place for us. And we had mee rebus for breakfast done by her. She even prepared our lunch and dinner. There were couple of tearful goodbyes here and there. Becos' there wasn't enough space in the car, Max and I could not send her off to the airport.

We all will miss you auntie

God Bless her with good health

愈愈だな。。。

Here I am, sitting in front of my lappy. I've just taken my shower, to 'cleanse' myself before Easter Vigil Mass later. It's 5.05pm now. 2 more hours to go.

Looking back on the last 11 months or so, it's pretty clear that Jesus is working in my life. Last year, around the end of May, out of no where, my uncle just signed me up for RCIA (Rites of Christian Initiation fir Adults) WITHOUT asking my permission. I tried giving him 1001 excuses-got school lah, no time, not ready etc etc but he just urged me to go for it.

To cut things short, I had to come to Adelaide for further studies so I knew I cannot complete the entire journey on time. So I was all too happy to announce my impending trip overseas. Here's the first rocker: My parish priest, after coming to know about my situation, offered to baptise me before I go. But, I hesitated. Deep inside, I KNEW getting baptised was THE RIGHT THING to do but I just took my own sweet time. By that time, I was too busy to give it serious thought. The mad rush to determine what to bring and what not to bring overcame me so I did not got baptised....

Second rocker: The week before lectures officially started, Max moved into the house. I can't remember how we got into a conversation but he dragged me to church as soon as he knew I was in the midst of my RCIA program. At this time, I still, wasn't too sure about myself. I was set on going through the program 3 years later, when I finished my studies. Then came the offer to continue the program from where I left off, and being able to get baptise over here in Adelaide. And Max offered to be my sponsor, to journey with me throughout this period until Easter. I did not give him a immediate reply. One fine day I was pondering and pondering when suddenly, the thought that God was giving me a second chance to get baptise in His Name. HE gave me a chance when I was about to leave Singapore but I didn't take that up. Now, HE's offering me another chance! How Great God Is!!! It was then that I realized that God is prodding me all the way, from my uncle signing me up in RCIA to being able to get Max, my housemate as my sponsor and getting baptise over here. All these moved me, and made me agree to finish the journey.

So here am I now, 8 weeks from the time I started RCIA over here. There are many, many wonderful people that God has sent to help me and Max along the way. I can't thank all of them enough. I still can't believe one year of journey in God is coming to a climax tonight. Seems so fast.... too fast. I don't know if I'm 100% ready but I'm prepared to take the leap of faith now =)

1 week of Happiness....

My housemate's mum, flew in from Singapore on Monday to pay us a visit. Terribly wonderful woman... The minute she stepped into our house, she started cleaning up the entire place for us. THIS, is the result. See how clean the kitchen is...

This is Chandru's mum. She cooked chicken rice for us today!!! Note the TV in the background: Marvel VS Capcom 2. I had been playing my ass off that silly game everyday =P

The wonderful spread for lunch done by the magnificent cook from Singapore ^_^. Note I purposely gave this pic a larger resolution so as to make u ppl jealous!!!

Chandru's mum cooked nasi Lemak on Monday night. Really, really good-the chilli sambal, the coconut rice, fried chicken...

The guys playing Monopoly after the sumptuous meal of nasi lemak...

We had RISK this afternoon. Dunno why my luck damn bad today-kept throwing lousy numbers. As a result, I got eliminated pretty early in the game. See Chandru's mum whipping up something good for us in the kitchen... =)

OZ: Part 1

Feels great to be back =) No, actually I'm lying >P Kinda forgot what's blogging and how to blog. Even as I type this now... I'm having content constipation - dunno what to write and how to express... Yep, I KNOW I haven been updating my blog since dunno I came here. Got couple of complains from friends about this... sorry guys!! busy lah... bo bian =(

Let's see... I'm in Adelaide for nearly 2 months already. I see some shocked faces: for those who dunno what's going on, I am studying in Australia now. Yours truly has already left the Lion City for further studies =P

Anyway where was I? Yep... in Adelaide. 2 months only... but feels like forever. I'm doing pretty fine. My first 2 days were horrible though. Terrible experience - got sick on the plane, sick in Adelaide, no water to drink... =( will relate some other time. Other than that, life's good over here =) 6 weeks of school had just passed by. Right now, I'm having 2 WEEKS of MID-SEMESTER BREAK!!! Take that, NUS ppl!!! Crazy system here...

Lessons officially started at the end of February. I'm taking 3 modules this semester: Chemistry, Biology and Interpersonal Skills to Health Care. Before you jump the gun and say "song bo!!!", I have to say I'm not having an easy time here. Chem n Bio each have 3, 1-hour lectures each week. Throw in tutorials, lab work, assignments, weekly tests... Then I have to do grocery shopping, cooking, cleaning up etc etc. There u have it... where got time to blog n blog. >P I was attending lectures, rushing assignments, trying to finish readings etc etc. Even lectures must also rush there early. Which bugger said that westerners are all very relac wan ah? Who said that ang mos stroll in leisurely into the lecture hall 10 mins after it has started? That's an overstatement man... 15 mins before lecture starts, the hall is already thronging with people liao lor... talk bout kiasuism.... -_- Perhaps people here are kiasu for education and relac for life in general. Vice versa for us back home, eh? =)

Imagine having to attend 3, 1 hour lecture each week for every module. And every lecture, the lecturer will be talking about totally new stuff. Welcome to my world :P This is what I face here. It's challenging stuff. Lucky I had some background knowledge in Chemistry so still not so bad but Biology is a total new ball-game to me. I've never studied Bio before and the lectures are going at a very fast pace. Therefore, I'm panicking. -_- Have to use the 2 weeks wisely to catch up on my studies.... =(

Labwork, until now in Chem n Bio is simple stuff. Test for CO2, O2, H2.. got 'pop' sound anot, does the lighted splint glow etc etc. But I throughly enjoyed the entire process. It's fun to do experiments and observe, what happens when you add this substance to that. Even though the experiments are what we've done in the labs during sec sch, the feeling of being back there is wonderful =)

1 thing I observe about australian students differing from s'porean students: When the lecturers talk, there will be TOTAL silence - nobody talks. So unlike back home when people can be chatting away the entire lecture, where lecturers have to stop talking and ask people to shut up. In addition, people here are more vocal, they really will stop the lecture and ask anything they don't understand, be it a simple question. How different from education back home!

Shall pause right here for the day. It's 10.30 pm, Sunday night and here am I, blogging on campus :) Can't think of anymore to write for now... Dun worry, couple of events coming up that deserves space on my blog. This coming Easter, 15th April 2006, will be a very important day. I won't say why now... just wait n hope... in anticipation :P
